Northern Virginia high school student faces felony charges after allegedly attacking a cop

A high school student in Northern Virginia is in custody and facing felony charges after he allegedly attacked a school resource officer on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, staff at Dominion High School were trying to have the student go to the office from the cafeteria, but he refused multiple times, and then allegedly attacked a staff member.

When the Loudoun County Sheriff's deputy assigned to the school tried to calm the student down, he reportedly lashed out.

After the deputy defended himself and took the student into custody, he was charged with obstruction of justice by force, assault on a school official, and assault on a law enforcement officer - all felonies.

He was also charged with disorderly conduct in a school and destruction of property.

After the arrest, he was taken to the Loudoun County juvenile detention center.
