NO FIVE! 5 things that went wrong after the Blizzard of 2016

Earlier this week, FOX 5 handed out "high fives" for things that we thought went right after the big snowstorm that passed through our area. Many of you went to the FOX 5 DC Facebook page and shared your own "high fives" with us.

But since the big storm ended, how can we call ourselves the "most powerful city in the world" if we can't even dig out of it in five days? So we are back with list of "no fives" -- things that went wrong after the blizzard ended.

1. SCHOOLS ARE STILL CLOSED

Kids may love it, but parents? Not so much. We get that classes were likely going to be canceled after a blizzard. But missing an entire week of school? Other areas in the country such as Minnesota and Boston scoff at that.

2. NOT PLOWING THE WHOLE ROAD

If a highway is three lanes, plow all three lanes! Don't just clear two, or even worse, just one lane. And you wonder why drivers have been seeing huge traffic backups in many areas in recent days.

3. PLOWING PRIORITIES

D.C. has dug out streetcar stops for streetcars that are not even running. Meanwhile, buses that are needed to get you to work or get you where you need to go are up and running. However, too many of those bus stops remain covered in snow and slush. Where are the priorities?

While in Maryland, we've noticed red light cameras were dug out while many road lanes were still covered in snow.

4. POLITICIANS MAKING DEADLINES

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett made a promise to have all streets plowed by Wednesday at 7 a.m. Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker made a promise to do the same at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Yet, these deadlines came and went and many residents in both counties still said they had unplowed streets.

5. BAD DRIVERS

If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Slow down, share the road, let that car merge and watch out for pedestrians in the street!

You might agree with some of these "no fives" or you just might disagree with every single one of them. But we want to know what you would give a "no five" for when it comes to recovering from this blizzard. Post your comments on our FOX 5 DC Facebook page!
