The victims have been identified as 61-year-old Charles Childress and 59-year-old Kimberly Newcomb.
Neighbors shocked
What they're saying:
A neighbor next door said Newcomb was already living there by the time she and her family moved into the neighborhood in 2021.
"They were super friendly. Just recently, they had decorations up. Yeah, it looks like nothing suspicious was going on and it was just really a big surprise and unfortunate news," she said. "I think it’s more shocking just because, like I said this neighborhood is very quiet. We do kind of keep an eye on each other. If anything is suspicious, someone will come over and be like, someone is parked over at your house for ‘X’ amount of days. That’s the most activity we get, like some suspicious car parked in front of our house for a sense of time."
Investigation continues
What we know:
At this time, investigators have not determined what the relationship between the victims was, but they say the pair were living in the home together.
"They do let their dogs out, and our dogs like to play with them across the fence. So, yeah, it’s been about a week. Because their vehicles are there, we were just like…oh, they’re probably inside because it’s chilly. We didn’t think anything of it," the neighbor said.
Detectives have ruled this as a homicide with both victims suffering from fatal injuries.
The homicide remains under investigation.
