NAACP calls on Virginia Gov. Northam to resign

The NAACP is calling on Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to resign hours after a racist photograph in a school yearbook surfaced featuring two men - one in blackface, the other in Ku Klux Klan regalia.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson said via Twitter, "Black face in any manner is always racist and never okay. No matter the party affiliation, we can not stand for such behavior, which is why the @NAACP is calling for the resignation of Virginia Governor @RalphNortham."

It is not clear which figure in the photo is Northam, but the Governor has acknowledged that he appears in it.

Northam apologized for the photo, saying he is, "deeply sorry for the decision I made to appear as I did in this photo and for the hurt that decision caused then and now."
