Montgomery County police conducting homicide investigation after victim found outside church

ROCKVILLE, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Montgomery County police are investigating a homicide after a person was found dead outside of a Catholic church in Rockville, police say.

According to Montgomery County police, the Emergency Communications Center received a call at around 6 p.m. Friday for the report of an assault in front of St. Raphael Catholic Church on Dunster Road.

When police arrived, they found the female victim with trauma to the upper body outside of an entrance to the church. She died at the scene, officials say.

St. Raphael School tweeted that the victim was stabbed to death.

Police say they are working to confirm the victim's identity and will release her name when her family is notified.

The medical examiner's office in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death for the victim.
