METRO UPDATE: What you need to know for Wednesday

Metro said train service will begin at 5 a.m. Wednesday on the Red, Orange, Blue Green and Yellow lines. However, it is unknown if service will be restored to the Silver Line in time for the morning rush.

Free shuttle buses will be provided between all Silver Line stations and the West Falls Church station starting at 5 a.m. if Silver Line service is not up and running. Metro crews are continuing to remove snow and ice from the electrified third rail at those stations.

Metro will operate on a modified weekday service with trains running every 8 minutes on each line. Stations served by multiple lines will have more frequent service.

Metrobus will operate on a "moderate" weather service plan on Wednesday. Bus service will be available on 160 regional commuter routes. Depending on road conditions, Metro will also run the 32 Metrobus school trips if possible.

MetroAccess will continue to operate on Wednesday, but Metro does warn some locations may be unavailable for door-to-door service and delays are possible due to road conditions.

Metro spokesperson Dan Stessel said ridership was down by about 60 percent on Tuesday compared to a normal weekday.
