Metro riders continue to adjust to months of planned closures due to platform repair project

The rough adjustment continues for some Metro riders in northern Virginia who are dealing with the recent closures of several stations for infrastructure repairs.

The summer platform project will keep six Blue and Yellow line stations closed through the summer months and past Labor Day.

The platform reconstruction project will impact the following stations through September 8:

- Braddock Rd
- King St-Old Town
- Eisenhower Ave
- Huntington
- Van Dorn St
- Franconia-Springfield

Metro will provide free shuttle service at all six of the closed stations. Water taxi and trolley service are among the alternative travel options the transit systems recommends using during the project.

Tuesday was the first workday commute since the closures went into place over the weekend. FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick says may riders on Wednesday morning were still experiencing issues with their commute.
