Metro Board extends current hours for 1 year, extended hours possible in 2020
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - The Metro Board has voted to continue the current service hours with the possibility of extending those hours beginning in 2020.
Currently, the Metro system operates from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday, from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday and from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. the rest of the week.
The vote was taken on Thursday.
If a change is made in July of 2020, Friday and Saturday service could extend to 3 a.m. and Sunday through Thursday service could extend until to midnight.
The current hours will remain in place until at least July of 2020.
