Memorial Day Weekend weather timeline

Planning an outdoor barbeque or trip to the beach to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend? Scattered storms Sunday and Monday could complicate those plans.

FOX 5 Meteorologist Mike Thomas says clouds will begin to roll into the DC-area before 3 p.m. Sunday and to expect scattered showers from until 5 p.m. Those storms will begin in the south and make their way up north as the evening progresses.

Steadier, light rain will enter the area at around 8 p.m. Regions east of 95 and near the Delaware and Maryland beaches should expect to see heavier rainfall.

The beginning of the day Monday will be mostly cloudy with on-and-off showers. By noon, sun will mix in with the clouds, but high humidity will cause sporadic showers and possible thunderstorms.

That system will move out of the region by around 8 p.m. Monday night, and the late work week will start off mostly sunny and warm.
