Md. hospital welcomes New Year's baby!

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Shady Grove Medical Center's first baby of 2016 was born at 1:31 a.m. on New Year's Day.

Nathan Luong weighed 8 pounds and 12 ounces, according to a news release from the hospital. The baby and his mother are resting and doing well.

The Derwood, Md. family received a special basket of gifts from the hospital, including handmade towels, blankets, hats, booties and other essentials.

Shady Grove Medical Center delivers approximately 5,000 babies each year.
