(FOX 5 DC)

D.C.'s Mayor Muriel Bowser has taken emergency action to block a planned Department of Health and Human Services shelter for unaccompanied migrant children in the District.

FOX 5's Evan Lambert reports the legislation, which is now in effect, limits shelters to no bigger than 15 beds. DHHS reportedly wanted to house 200 unaccompanied minors.

The mayor's office says the legislation will take effect for 120 days.

Bowser is against warehousing children, according to a spokeswoman.
