Maryland Task Force One from Montgomery County is headed south to be in place to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.

The group left early Wednesday morning from Rockville. The caravan of tractor trailers, support vehicles, K9s, boats and staff will head to South Carolina.

Florence was about 550 miles off shore Wednesday morning and is expected to bring rain, wind and a massive storm surge to the Carolinas by Thursday.
