Maryland nanny arrested in death of 8-month-old baby girl

A Maryland nanny has been charged in the asphyxiation death of an 8-month-old baby girl in her care, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

The baby, 8-month-old Enita Salubi of Glenarden was in the sole care and custody of her nanny, 66-year-old Oluremi Oyindasola when she was rushed to a hospital Monday afternoon after becoming unresponsive at home, police said.

Shortly after arriving to the hospital, the baby girl was pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed her cause of death was asphyxiation, and the manner of death was homicide, according to officials.

On Wednesday, police said Oluremi is in custody. She is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, and related charges, according to officials. She is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
