Man taken into custody after early morning barricade inside Falls Church apartment

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Police say they have taken a man into custody after an early morning barricade situation in Falls Church.

Officers say a man who was acting erratically barricaded himself inside an apartment around 2 a.m. in the 6100 block of Leesburg Pike. Police say the man was armed with a knife but there was no threat to public safety.

Authorities asked people living in that area to shelter in place and some residents were evacuated as a precaution.
