Man surrenders peacefully in Geogetown barricade situation
WASHINGTON - A barricade situation at an office building in Georgetown has ended peacefully after man surrendered in a standoff that took over seven hours to resolve.
Police said they received a call at around 2:54 p.m. Monday to check on the welfare of a man "suffering from a crisis" and refused to come out of an office in the 3000 block of K Street in Northwest D.C.
It is unknown if the man was armed with any weapons. Police said he was alone in the office.
D.C. police said the suspect turned himself in shortly before 10 p.m. He has not been charged and will undergo a mental health evaluation.
Traffic was blocked off on numerous roads in the area as police handled the standoff.
