Man in custody after barricade situation at home in Prince George's County

A barricade situation in Prince George's County has ended after authorities were able to enter the home and take the suspect into custody, officials say.

The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office says deputies went to a home at Kyle Avenue and Ladova Way in Springdale at around 2 p.m. to serve a protective order. However, the man being served stopped cooperating with them and locked himself inside the home.

Authorities were able to apprehend the man after officers shot tear gas into the house. As that happened, the suspect set the carpet on fire and ran upstairs. Officers went in the house took the suspect into custody and extinguished the fire.

There were no injuries reported.

Officials say the man also had a second-degree assault warrant stemming from an altercation with a family member Wednesday night.

The home is located several blocks away from Charles Herbert Flowers High School.
