NORTH BETHESDA, Md. - A man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a hotel in North Bethesda on Thursday, and police are searching for the shooter.

What we know:
Police said the shooting happened shortly before noon at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. A 41-year-old man, who officials said was a guest at the hotel, was shot. Officers tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
What we don't know:
So far, police have not released any information about a potential suspect, and no arrests have been announced.
Montgomery County Police say they will identify the victim once they finish notifying his family.
When asked if the shooter could have escaped via the nearby North Bethesda Metro station, investigators said they inspected surveillance footage from the area, and that no one got on the Metro after the shooting.
