Man arrested for groping woman in Georgetown

DC Police arrested a man early Saturday morning for groping a woman in Georgetown.

Police saw 34-year-old Sergio Waldo Velaquez-Cardozo, of Falls Church, following a woman on Prospect Street at around 1:03 a.m. Saturday.

Within seconds, he ran up behind his victim and groped her. Both Velaquez-Cardozo and the victim ran off, but officers were able to stop the suspect and subsequently place him under arrest.

Officials have not yet said whether Velaquez-Cardozo is connected to a recent string of sex assaults in the Georgetown-area.
