Icy roads make a mess out of early morning commute

Icy conditions made a mess out of the early commute Tuesday.

Many vehicle accidents were reported around the D.C. region as cars slipped on ice and into leftover snow banks.

In one incident involved a school bus in Montgomery County that skidded off of the roadway near Norbeck Road and Avery Road. No one was injured in the accident, however, two students were on board.

Accidents were also reported along Interstate-495 and in parts of Interstate-270.

Water main breaks have also caused delays as emergency crews worked to make repairs.

More melting will take place today as sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 40s take over.
