Heavy weekend rains cause flooding around DC area
WASHINGTON - The heavy rains over the weekend caused flooding conditions in some parts of the D.C. metro area.
The wet weekend weather, which for some extended into Monday morning, caused water to spill onto local roadways. In Prince George's County, high water and flooding closed both directions of Water Street at Route 4 in the Upper Marlboro area early Monday morning.
In Charles County, Maryland, some students went without bus service due to flooded roads. Charles County Public School officials said bus service was suspended to the following areas:
-Pomfret Road
-Turkey Hill Road
-Livingston Road between Hawthorne and Pomfret roads
-Billingsley Road from Livingston Road to Dutton's Bridge (Maintenance Place)
No injuries have been reported due to the flooding conditions. Emergency crews advise motorists to never cross flooded roadways.
