Half-smokes versus grits! Ben’s Chili Bowl, Houston restaurant have winner-takes-all bet riding on World Series

The Nationals and Astros aren’t the only ones with some skin in the game this World Series. Two well-known restaurants in D.C. and Houston has a little something on the line too!

It all started last week, with some smack talk in the nation’s capital. Marcus Davis, the founder of popular Houston restaurant The Breakfast Klub, was in town to see his daughter, who graduated from Howard.

"Shout out to Howard, as they say the real H-U. I know because my money went there," he laughed.

Ben’s Chili Bowl

Davis stopped by to see his friends at Ben’s Chili Bowl, and that’s when the smack talking began!

"I told him, put his money where his hot dog is," Davis explained Tuesday. "If by some miraculous Mary Joseph miracle the Nats are able to beat the Astros, I will fly down to D.C. and I’ll serve hotdogs my doggone self." Also, his staff will wear Ben’s Chili Bowl shirts, and they’ll put up a big sign that says "Go Nats."

If the Astros win, Davis said the people at Ben’s have agreed to do the same thing. FOX 5 caught up with Virginia Ali and her family who said the idea of the Astros winning the World Series is crazy! They are behind the Nats all the way!

In other words, it’s Nats versus 'Stros, half-smokes versus grits -- winner takes all!
