Good Samaritans in Md. neighborhood continue tradition of digging elderly neighbors out from snow

PALMER PARK, Md. - Big snowstorms usually drive a lot of people indoors. But for one Prince George's County neighborhood, when the snow hits the ground, some Good Samaritans get together and help out their neighbors.

They call themselves the "A-Team."

"We're the fortunate looking out for the unfortunate," said Twon Robinson.

Some would say they are like snow angels.

"A lot of these people can't come out here and do this," said Charles Chester.

"They can't do it so we do it," said John Lewis.

On cold days like this, they go around together with shovels in their hand and smiles on their faces.

"We have some elderly people who live around here and we are just giving back to the community," Robinson said.

He said he has been helping out his elderly neighbors for years.

"I love them," he said. "That is why I'm doing what I do."

Robinson said these neighbors have paved the path for him.

"We were all born and raised, grew up here," he said. "We're giving back to the community."

It is a warm, best-kept secret you will find right here on these cold, snowy days in Palmer Park.

"It shows they care," said neighbor Gerald Wilson. "They care about the well-being of other neighbors in the community, and also it's something about the snow that brings us together."

The "A-Team" said they hope other young kids take note and keep this tradition of theirs going for years to come.
