German tourist rescued after stranding near Chilean volcano

A 78-year-old German tourist had to be rescued near a Chilean volcano, near the border with Bolivia.

Authorities said the man was stranded in his car in the Olca volcano area, according to local news reporters and police.

Carabineros Region de Tarapaca, the police of the Tarapaca Region, released footage showing officers helping the tourist, whose car appeared to be wedged in a ridge in the ground.

The outlet El Sol De Iquique reported the man's car got stuck due to the poor road conditions triggered by a recent storm.

He then received first aid and hydration, authorities said.
