Frederick fire damages 3 buildings, displaces residents

A two-alarm fire damaged three buildings in Frederick County on Thursday, according to officials.

Authorities said the blaze broke out in at a residential building in the 100 block of South Market Street, which is in a historic district of Frederick, Maryland.

The residents of the building were evacuated and officials said one suffered minor injuries due to the fire and was treated at the scene.

Officials said two firefighters suffered from exhaustion and were treated at the scene.

Authorities said the fire damaged eight residential units in the buildings. Residents of those units would be displaced, according to officials. Crews appeared to have the fire out or under control before 1:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
