Former Fairfax County instructional assistant charged for soliciting sex with a minor

Investigators say a former Fairfax County elementary school employee is facing charges of soliciting sex with a minor after speaking to an undercover officer online.

Fairfax County police say 21-year-old Monis Irfan communicated with undercover Child Exploitation Unit detectives on a social networking site.

Officials say Irfan offered to meet the detective and provide sexually explicit images of children in return for access to a minor with whom Irfan believed he would have sexual relations.

Irfan was arrested upon meeting the detective and was charged with two counts of solicitation of a minor, one count of attempted human trafficking and one count of attempted forcible sodomy.

Following Irfan's arrest, detectives learned he was an instructional assistant and substitute at Bush Hill Elementary School in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County.

They say he is being held at the Adult Detention Center on no bond.

Anyone has additional information or believe you know of inappropriate communication with Irfan, detectives ask that you contact them at (703) 246-7800.
