FBI asks public to be on the lookout for Hania Aguilar's shoes

Authorities in Lumberton and the FBI are asking the public to be on the lookout for a pair of shoes that belong to missing 13-year-old, Hania Noelia Aguilar.

Hania's family said they recently purchased a new and very distinctive pair of sneakers for her. They are Adidas brand, white sneakers with black stripes, and colorful stitching on the back heel of the shoe.

"Think through what you've seen since November 5. Have you seen a discarded pair of shoes, did someone try to sell you shoes, did they show up in a donation bin? We want to make sure we draw attention to the shoes because they are distinctive and the kidnapper could try and get rid of them for that reason," said FBI Supervisory Senior Resident Agent Andy De la Rocha.

Investigators have run down dozens of leads over the last few weeks related to the shoes, but they said now is the appropriate time to ask for additional help from the community as a precautionary measure to make sure they've exhausted all options with the shoes.

According to family, the eighth-grader went outside to start a relative's SUV to prepare to leave for the school bus stop before a man then forced her into a relative's vehicle and drove off.

The 13-year-old girl has been missing for more than two weeks, the FBI said.
