Fatal crash in Montgomery County under investigation

DAMASCUS, Md. - A fatal crash in Montgomery County is under investigation Tuesday morning, according to officials.

Montgomery County police said just before 8 a.m., a white 1997 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Ridge Road (MD 27) near Kemptown Road in Damascus, when it collided with a white 2015 Toyota Avalon going southbound.

Police say the 32-year-old male driver of the Corolla died from his injuries at the scene.

The Corolla's front-seat passenger, a 24-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say she remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.

Police say they will release the identities of the driver and passenger of the Corolla once their family members have been notified.

Officials say the driver of the Avalon, 46-year-old Khary Hiram Tolliver of Hagerstown, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
