Fairfax County police searching for serial police impersonator

Fairfax County police are investigating a series of at least three police impersonation incidents that began in October 2014. It has happening on highways all over the county.

Officials say the suspect drives a black Volkswagen sedan with Virginia plates and activates emergency lights, similar to what you would see on an unmarked police vehicle, and attempts to pull drivers over.

In each reported case, the driver felt something was wrong and refused to pull over. The suspect vehicle eventually drove away.

Officials say it is likely that there have been additional incidents and ask anyone who has encountered this vehicle to contact Crime Solvers.

Tipsters may submit a tip at www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or text "TIP187" plus your message to CRIMES (274637) or by calling 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

A $100 to $1,000 cash reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
