Fairfax County police officer hurt in crash

A Fairfax County police officer was hurt in a crash Friday afternoon.

The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m. near Braddock Road and Roanoke River Road in Fairfax.

Police say a vehicle in the center lane moved into the right lane after hearing police sirens, resulting in a collision with one of two motor officers coming through the right lane. The officer was thrown from his motorcycle and hit the pavement. 

Police say the officer suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
