EXCLUSIVE: White House aide in DC beaten and robbed of government Blackberry

FOX 5 has learned that a White House aide was robbed earlier this summer and there are concerns that some of the items stolen could pose a security risk.

According to the police report, the junior White House aide was walking near the Columbia Heights Metro station when he was jumped by two suspects. It happened on Irving street, NW, at around 11:30 p.m. on July 14.

The suspects jumped the aide from behind and punched him in the face twice. When the victim fell to the ground, the suspects went through his pockets. They stole his wallet, government Blackberry and backpack. They also got his credit card and what the police called "identity documents."

The victim received a minor cut to his upper lip and was treated at the hospital.

The victim's name is not included in the police report, but we got his name from a source and it was confirmed by the White House. We are not identifying the White House employee because he is the victim of a crime.

We asked the White House if the victim's White House ID and government-issued cell phone were stolen.

In an email, a White House spokesperson said, "Several weeks ago, a junior White House staffer experienced a robbery after work hours and not on White House grounds. His blackberry was stolen, and he immediately reported the theft, followed appropriate security procedure, and the device was disabled."

The White House official also said that his White House ID was not stolen.

A D.C. police spokesperson said on Friday, "There has been two juveniles arrested in reference to this. They were both placed under arrest today."

"The District's confidentiality laws preclude me from releasing any information whatsoever about cases that involve juveniles," said Robert Marus, spokesman for the D.C. Office of the Attorney General. "This includes confirming or denying whether we are prosecuting a particular case."
