Ex-Montgomery County official gets additional 15 years for embezzlement scheme

A former Montgomery County official who was convicted of stealing millions of dollars in funds from taxpayers was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison.

Byung Il "Peter" Bang, the former COO of Economic Development in Montgomery County pleaded guilty to wire fraud and making false statements on his tax returns.

It was all part of an elaborate scheme to embezzle more than $6.7 million from the county.
