Director Kayla Johnson on latest documentary, 'Fatherless No More'
WASHINGTON - Director Kayla Johnson joins us on The Good Word series! Johnson is the director of Fatherless No More, her second documentary based off an initiative started at Rikers Island by her father, Super Bowl champion and former Commanders player, Pastor Tim Johnson.
In a candid conversation with FOX 5’s Tisha Lewis, Johnson shares how her faith shaped her upbringing and fueled her passion for film.
In her latest documentary Fatherless No More she chronicles what she described as, "the remarkable journey of Super Bowl champion and Orlando-based pastor, Tim Johnson, who was driven by a divine calling to a place often deemed hell on earth. His commitment to do what's never been done before by living in an RV on Rikers Island for 10 weeks evolved into over a year of profound encounters and transformed lives within the jail walls."
"This is not a jail documentary, but a story that magnifies the effects of fatherlessness on the human condition," says Johnson.
