DC police respond to shooting on Georgia Avenue

Authorities are investigating after a shooting in the District on Monday.

DC police said at least one person was shot on Georgia Avenue near the intersection with Lamont but have not indicated how severe the victim's injuries are.

A witness told FOX 5's Paul Wagner that people were "running for their lives" after the shooting in front of Gray's Market.

Wagner says police increased their presence in the area, and some officers arrived at the scene with guns drawn.

Police closed down the area while they took photographs and searched for the suspect.

Around 3 p.m., they re-opened the block.

Police are looking for a suspect who is black, and stands 5-foot-8.

During the incident, he was reportedly wearing all white.
