DC officer donates clothing to homeless man waiting for ride to shelter

As a homeless man was waiting for blankets and a ride to an area shelter, a DC Recruit Officer wanted to give the man something himself.

A photo was taken as the officer brought the homeless man some clothing.

D.C. police say residents who are experiencing homelessness and are out on the street can request transportation to a shelter.

Those in need of a ride to a shelter can call 311 or the shelter hotline at (202) 399-7093.

Warming sites are opened when D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency activates a "Cold Emergency" Alert.
