DC Health Department's sexually suggestive ad turning heads
WASHINGTON - A sexually suggestive ad released by DC's Department of Health is turning heads for a good cause.
The video, titled "Think about PrEP," encourages DC residents who do not have HIV but may be more likely to be exposed to the disease to consider taking Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis.
The pill, when taken consistently once a day, helps prevent the transmission of HIV, according to health officials.
The advertisement - which features sexually suggestive images such as a woman licking ice cream, a man stroking a golf club and a woman peeling a banana - is part of the District's push to combat the spread of HIV. The video encourages residents to talk to their doctors about PrEP or calling the DC Health and Wellness Center at (202) 741-7692.
Health officials also urged people to visit dctakesonhiv.com, which features resources on where to receive HIV testing, PrEP and free condoms.
