Crash brings down utility pole, closes road in Montgomery County

SANDY SPRING, Md. - A vehicle crash downed a utility pole in Montgomery County causing damage and traffic delays.

The incident was reported just after 12 a.m. Wednesday. Police say a vehicle crashed into a pole near Olney Sandy Spring Road (Route 108) and Bentley Road. The crash caused the pole to break near the base damaging wires and utility boxes. It is unclear if any power outages were caused as a result of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody. Police have not released information related to what charges they may face.

At this time, all lanes along Olney Sandy Spring Road, between Bentley Road and Ashton Club Way, are closed.

The crash happened near Sherwood High School and could impact students and parents during the morning hours.
