WASHINGTON - May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month and GoodDayDC is helping to crack cancer!
It's a new social media challenge that supports the fundraising efforts of the Willie Strong Foundation -- named after 12-year old, Willie Hughes -- a beloved fifth grader whose positive spirit was legendary!
For more than two years, willie endured countless surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and experimental therapies in pursuit of a cure.
It didn't happen for willie, but his efforts continue to touch many lives, including the doctors, nurses and researchers at Children's National who cared for him.
Willie's mother, Claire Hughes, Dr. Eugene Hwang, neuro-oncologist, at Children's Hospital, Crack Cancer Campaign creator Courtney Billings, and SparkleMonkey marketing president Catherine Zimmermann joined us to share more about willie, his fight to bring awareness to pediatric brain cancer and the Crack Cancer Challenge!
