Connecticut Avenue parking: Major parking changes coming to Northwest DC

Major street-parking changes will be coming to Connecticut Avenue that will impact nightlife in Northwest D.C.

Officials announced that beginning on Oct. 19, parking zones will be adjusted on Connecticut Avenue from Rhode Island Avenue to Dupont Circle.

Parking will be prohibited along that stretch between 10 p.m. on Thursdays and until 7 a.m. on Sundays.

The District Department of Transportation said the change was being implemented to address safety concerns for both traffic and pedestrians.

Under the new plan, specific pick-up and drop-off zones will replace parking areas along Connecticut Avenue.

The new parking plan was a joint project between DDOT, police and local businesses. Officials said the changes would be evaluated and reconsidered in one year.
