Car involved in fatal shooting of security guard in Capitol Heights recovered by police

Prince George's County police say they have recovered a car believed to be driven by a suspect in a shooting that killed a Capitol Heights apartment complex security guard and injured a second guard.

Adrian Kinard, 26, died after a gunman opened fire at the Central Gardens Apartments last Friday at around 1 a.m. The other security guard wounded in the shooting suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say both victims were shot while they were at their personal cars parked at the apartment complex.

Police say the shooting was not random and have called it a targeted attack.

After the shooting, police spent the day looking for a black 2012 Dodge Charger seen leaving the parking lot during the shooting. Detectives found the car Sunday morning parked on 45th Street in Northeast D.C. near Kenilworth Gardens.

The car had temporary paper tags and had been reported stolen, police say.

Investigators are now looking to talk with anyone with information about this vehicle.

A $25,000 reward is being offered in this case. Anyone with any information about the car or the shooting is asked to call 1-866-411-TIPS or the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
