Boil Water Alert in place for parts of southern Stafford County

A BOIL WATER ALERT, that may be in place for up to three days, has been issued for parts of southern Stafford County.

Officials say the alert was issued after complications from a water main break on Tuesday.

Residents in the following areas are strongly advised to boil their water before using:

The alert applies to water used for consumption. Officials water used for washing clothes is acceptable to use.

Tests show there are no issues with the water supply in other areas of the county. Stafford County expects the BOIL WATER ALERT to be in place for two to three days and will update the situation online.

Officials say they are currently flushing lines, which they hope to have completed by Thursday.

Once the flushing is completed, officials say residents should let their water run for five minutes in order to expel discolored water.
