Ambulance overturns after being struck by vehicle on Beltway in Oxon Hill

Fire officials said a Prince George's County ambulance was involved in a crash on the Beltway Monday night in Oxon Hill.

According to Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesperson Mark Brady, the ambulance was traveling southbound on Interstate 95 when it was sideswiped by a vehicle just before Exit 4B near St. Barnabas Road. The striking vehicle was stopped 200 yards from the crash.

Two paramedics were transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Brady said the ambulance also struck a light pole on the side of the road during the crash. He tweeted a video that showed the light pole pierced through the roof of another car that was passing by the accident after the pole had fallen. The driver of that vehicle was able to walk away unscathed.
