Amber Alert canceled: Md. infant safe after father turns self in

Police say a Maryland infant is safe and an Amber Alert has been canceled after the alleged abductor, believed to be the girl's father, turned himself into authorities.

An Amber Alert had been issued for 5-month-old Drew Marie Denny earlier Tuesday evening after investigators say Denny took her from her mother's home in Poolesville.

Police say at around 3:15 p.m., 26-year-old Denny punched the girl's mother and displaying a handgun at the home.

Police say Deare Denny fled the home in a rental car with the young child.

Denny faces charges of first degree assault, second degree assault, possession of a handgun in a vehicle, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony/crime of violence, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, abduction by a relative, and hiding a child within the state.

Denny was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Center and is being held without bond.
