60 adoptable chihuahuas coming to DC area

Attention chihuahua lovers! Sixty of the adorable dogs are on their way to the D.C. area and they're looking for fur-ever homes.

According to DCist, the dogs are from a Mississippi breeder who experienced overcrowding after letting chihuahuas to roam freely. They say the breeder mass-surrendered the dogs to a no-kill shelter in the state.

The chihuahuas will first arrive in Loudoun County and then the D.C. Humane Rescue Alliance will take in 35 of them. The dogs up for adoption will range from 6 months to seven-years-old, DCist says.

The Humane Rescue Alliance's Oglethorpe location took in 30 dogs from a partner shelter in Alabama this past weekend. They tell FOX 5 they received such an "outpouring of support" that they no longer need bedding.
