3 dead following outbreak at Fairfax County retirement community

SPRINGFIELD, Va. (FOX 5 DC) -- Three people are dead after a respiratory virus outbreak at a Fairfax County retirement community, according to officials.

The health department reports 63 out of 263 residents in the assisted living and skilled nursing sections of Greenspring have become ill.

Officials say 19 employees have also reported symptoms of the virus since the outbreak was first reported on June 30.

CDC testing results are still pending.
