2 dogs found decapitated in St. Mary's County, police say

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. (FOX 5 DC) -- Two dogs were found decapitated in St. Mary's County on Sunday, according to officials.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said the dogs were found in the 40400 block of Parlett Morgan Road in Mechanicsville.

The dogs were black Labrador Retrievers, both weighing more than 80 pounds, according to authorities. The sheriff's office said both dogs had been decapitated and discarded in the wooded area within the last 48 hours.

Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation was urged to call Crime Solvers at (301) 475-3333. Through the Crime Solvers Program, tipsters are eligible for an award of up to $1,000 for information about a crime in St. Mary's County that leads to an arrest or indictment.
