2-alarm fire destroys house in DC's Petworth neighborhood

A two-alarm fire destroyed a row house fire in northwest D.C.

The fire was reported just before 5 a.m. in the 4300 block of Iowa Avenue in the Petworth neighborhood.

Witnesses say, at one point, the row house was fully engulfed in flames The fire then spread to a nearby home. The structure was undergoing work and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

One firefighter suffered injuries while battling the blaze. No other injuries have been reported. Several residents of the adjacent house were evacuated.
