2 adults displaced, dog killed in Loudoun County house fire

LOUDOUN CO., Va. - Two adults were displaced and a dog was found dead following a house fire in Loudoun County Friday.
The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office (LCFR-FMO) says just after 9 p.m. on Jan. 10, crews responded to a house fire in the 41000 block of Springfield Lane in Leesburg.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw fire and smoke coming from the second story and attic of a single-family home and located the residents safely outside.
Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to extinguish the fire on the second floor and access the fire in the attic.
While additional crews were searching the home, they found the deceased dog.
The fire was extinguished within about 30 minutes and firefighters remained on scene performing salvage and overhaul operations and assisted the LCFR-FMO with their investigation.
Officials say one resident was evaluated for smoke inhalation but no other injuries were reported.
Two adults were displaced by the fire. They were able to secure shelter.
The Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was accidental, resulting from an unspecified electrical event that is believed to have originated in a space between the first and second floors.
No additional information has been released at this time.
