Fairfax County middle schoolers use farming to help families in need

A group of eighth graders at Luther Jackson Middle School in Fairfax County are working together to grow food in a unique way. Their project is helping them learn about the science of vertical farming and the gift of giving back. FOX 5 photojournalist Ama Arthur-Asmah has their story. The Luther Jackson ESTEEM Center Aquaponics Lab came together with the help of corporate donations including the Environmental Stewardship grant from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. Director of Luther Jackson's ESTEEM Center, Mark Smith, says the Center is always looking for financial support.
