The Good Word: Special Needs Advocate Shanna Ruffin

WASHINGTON - Special needs advocate Shanna Ruffin joins FOX 5's Tisha Lewis on The Good Word! Ruffin is a special integration coordinator in Northern Virginia and works closely with adults who have special needs. She shares how her faith inspired her to pursue her career and how it continues to motivate her on a daily basis to help those who need it the most.

Ruffin coordinates volunteer activities for adults who have disabilities and says her faith was a vital part of her life since childhood - as her parents encouraged her to go to church regularly and her grandmother was a Sunday school teacher. The North Carolina native now calls DC home and tells us she is continually motivated by an encouraging message from her childhood pastor who said, "When you venture out into the world, always take God with you."
