Wild Kroger rampage: man proclaims 'end of the world', punches woman
PLYMOUTH, Mich. (WJBK) - Plymouth police say an 18-year-old who claimed the 'end of the world was upon us' was under the influence of drugs that gave him 'super human strength'.
The ridiculous rampage took place inside a Plymouth Kroger Monday night. It ended outside the store with a group of Plymouth Township police officers tackling and cuffing the teenager.
"The police department received multiple 911 calls of an individual acting erratically, both in the store and in the parking lot of the Kroger," Plymouth Twp Det Charlie Rozum said.
According to police, they were called just before 10 p.m. when the teenager showed up at the busy grocery store with a message: the world was ending.
"He was running up and down the aisles screaming. Out in the parking lot, he was seen jumping on cars," Rozum said.
Not only that, the man was seen pushing over a grocery cart and then punching an elderly woman standing in line to check out. When police arrived, the man was found lying in the parking lot.
Some customers were there tried to calm the man down but he jumped up and then strarted thrashing his arms.
"He began to get aggressive with officers - and it appeared he was under some type of drugs or narcotics," Rozum said.
It took five officers to hold him down and strap him to a gurney. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
According to Rozum, they believe he was under the influence.
"It's what we refer to as superhuman strength. They don't feel pain so it's hard for officers to control the individuals," Rozum said.
The man was ticketed for disorderly conduct and faces up to 90 days in jail.
Nobody was injured during the man's rampage, including the woman he punched.
